Rebecca Kelso, M.D.
Dr. Kelso grew up in the central Texas town of Waco. There she grew up influenced by her father, also a physician, who instilled in her a strong work ethic. She grew up seeing the dedication and care he gave to his patients. In addition to influencing her profession, he also exposed her to the love of outdoors with yearly hiking trips set to the soundtrack of John Denver and Neil Diamond. She remembers fondly Sunday afternoons that consisted of driving down country lanes and watching Cowboys football during the Tom Landry tenure. She attended UT in Austin for her undergraduate program, and after graduating from Plan II Honors, she attended UTMB in Galveston for her medical school training, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She received the Thomas Freese award for outstanding dermatology medical student. She continued her training with a year in Internal Medicine for her Internship, followed by a three residency in dermatology at UTMB. Under the tutelage of caring and knowledgeable professors, she was exposed to a wide array of skin conditions and medical problems in her training program that prepared her well for clinical practice. She continued to stay on as faculty for two years as a Clinical Assistant Professor, both seeing patients and teaching medical students and residents. After Hurricane Ike hit Galveston in 2008, she and her husband decided to relocate inland to San Antonio in 2009. At that time, she started a dermatology practice. She feels lucky to call San Antonio home and regards it as a warm, friendly place with nice people. She is grateful for the trust patients place in her and strives to make sure it is well-earned every single day. Excellence in patient care is her top priority. When she is not at the office, she spends time with her husband and boy and girl twins and three crazy dogs. She enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, watching movies, reading, and being in the outdoors. She is in the process of trying to become a good cook. She has been board certified by the American Board of Dermatology since 2007.
